The Mothers Group in Newman is now in its third week and has been a huge success so far!
Living in remote areas can come with a few disadvantages. Rowena Purdy one of our local Mums approached EPIC with the idea of a Mothers Group and we were happy to support the idea.
Local organisations like EPIC, various government bodies and other local community services are offering programs, workshops and events to connect people and enable remote community living. The Mothers Group in Newman is one of those programs and we were happy to support Rowena with her idea.
There are currently 11 Mothers registered for this 7 week program and there already has been an expression of interest for the next group by more mothers.
We have had a range of guest speakers in each week so far. The topics covered, reach from baby massages, looking after your own mental health, to family wellness and much more.
Rosemarie Vary, one of the local Child Health Nurses even joined the group offering support and advice to our wonderful mums.
These sessions run from our EPIC Newman office, every Thursday from 10-11am.
